Mark Cerny: Console Gaming Isn’t Going Anywhere
Posted on the 12 March 2014 by Sameo452005 @iSamKuliiDespite many developers saying that gaming is moving towards a mobile gaming space, PS4 designer Mark Cerny thinks otherwise. Cerny says the console market is here to stay.
When Cerny was asked if traditional gaming consoles such as the PS4, Wii U and Xbox One still have a place in the market, he said, “Of course they do.”
“If you look at the set of people who have smartphones and the subset of them that play games on their smartphones, it is enormous,” Cerny told Kotaku. “And games as a result have had explosive growth on tablets… Within that context, console gaming becomes a smaller portion and so it’s very easy for the analysts to question if consoles have a role. Of course they do. It’s a huge fanbase. It’s just that the rest of the world is now coming in.”
