Maribou State and Gang Colours

Posted on the 20 May 2011 by Pelski
Maribou State and Gang ColoursWith an EP imminent on Fat Records (preview it here), Leeds duo Maribou State (formerly Ghost) are an act on the up. They've given a big rolling 2-step remix to thug-step anthem 'I Need You'. Removing the cheesiness of the vocals and mid-range bass, MS better the original with some punchy, hollow percussive beats and a stripped back tropical melody. Keep your eyes on these fellas.  And be sure to catch them at Underhill Festival in Wiltshire sharing the bill with Julio Bashmore, Martyn, Lone, Richie Ahmed, Zombie Disco Squad, Stopmakingme and yours truly...

Released on the upcoming somethinksounds imprint on June 13th, Lucky Paul's 'The Slow Ground EP' is all futuristic, off-kilter hip hop in the same vein as James Blake and Flying Lotus. The remix package comes with a cut from Elphino as well as the debut release from G$ vs Gold, a collab between Gadi Mizrahi of Wolf & Lamb and Eli Gold of Soul Clap. The label is handing out the full-quality Gang Colours remix for free. And it's a compact burst of snare-snapping electronica, jumping and clapping along like a more cheery relation of garage:
