Mantis: Scary-looking Giant Hexapod Walking Machine Weighs 2-Tons

This may look like a prop from a scary futuristic movie, but it’s actually real. This gigantic two-ton hexapod machine is a creation of Matt Denton, which seems to be able to climb anything on its’ way. We’ve seen some pretty cool but small hexapod robots but, this is different because you can ride the hell out of this one.

9-feet-tall world’s biggest hexapod, Mantis gets powered by 2.2-liter turbo diesel engine that gives up to 50 horsepower. Enough for a speed of mere one kilometer per hour. You can ride it or control it via Wi-Fi as well.

Yes, it’s definitely an awesome creation. But, it’s also a bit scary. I mean, this is the kind of robots that I imagine invading earth someday in the future. This looks even scarier than Cylons and Terminators.
