Mailbox Mondays: September 22, 2014 Welcome to Mailbox Monday, a meme started by Marcia of To Be Continued.

Of late I’ve been very circumspect on the books for review thing.

Over the summer I found myself reading more randomly and reverting to my pre-book blogging days of browsing through the library and picking up books according to my mood. While I like this renewed leisurely reading, at the same time, I am unable to say no when interesting books come my way.

Last week I nodded an enthusiastic yes to these books.

I can never say no to a thriller/mystery and there have been some good ones coming out lately from relatively unknown Indian writers, so I decided to take a chance on Killing Ashish Karve by Salil Desai. The Tribune has praised it highly saying it is the best murder mystery by an Indian author so far. I am a bit skeptical about that claim, but I couldn’t resist this book anyway.

The next book I accepted is Tamanna by Tejeshwar Singh, which is supposedly a fictionalized account of a true story of forbidden love. What does that mean exactly? Well, I am going to read the book to find out and share with you all.

The last book is The Children Act by Ian McEwan. I have read two of his books – Atonement and On Chesil Beach, and I loved them both. S.Krishna has praised The Children Act highly saying it’s one of Ian McEwan’s best books in a long time. That’s pretty high praise and I just can’t wait to read this book.

What books did you get last week? What are you looking forward to reading?
