With the iPad turning 4, there is plenty of discussion about the celebrating of this birthday. Has the iPad lived up to all the expectations? Some say yes, others think differently.
Most recently in this blog, I captured the most exciting highlights of those four years for the iPad and listed five lessons we all have learned.
Now it is my friend Bob Newman’s turn to deal with the iPad birthday. His question about the iPad, however, is more specific?
In a blog post, Bob asks: Are Magazine Apps Dead?
He then proceeds to invite us into a state of the art roundtable.
I was honored to be part of a distinguished panel for this roundtable, which included: David Jacobs, the CEO of 29th Street Publishing; Josh Klenert, Executive Director in the Digital Customer Experience team for JPMorgan Chase and until recently Vice President, Design & UX for The Huffington Post Media Group; Jeremy Leslie of London-based magCulture studio; Joe Zeff ,president of Joe Zeff Design.
I urge you to take a look at what the experts Newman gathered said.
Hint: Disappointment about how magazines have been presented on the iPad seems to prevail among the panelists, but also a bit of optimism that maybe things will get better. As Josh Klenert has so smartly said:
There is certainly still opportunity for exciting development — most likely stepping away from being bound so closely to print.
Who’s doing it right:
National Geographic, Esquire, The Atlantic, The New Yorker, Wired, and Esquire Weekly.
