Made in the USA: Our Sealy Mattress

Posted on the 25 January 2013 by 2ndgreenrevolution @2ndgreenrev

We were in the market for a new mattress and decided to upgrade to a king sized one.  We went to a place in Denver that delivered the same day (but it wasn’t necessarily a local business).  Making a big purchase like this is always a bit nerve racking.  Usually my method is to do a bit of research and then make a quick decision because I hate over thinking the process and decision. I also despise how many options we have now in today’s society.

Before going to the store we looked at a few mattresses that were in our price range.  Unfortunately those weren’t the natural bamboo or organic options.  The mattresses  we were looking at were made by Sealy.  When we went to the store, I saw the mattress we had checked out online and noticed it had a tag saying it was made in the USA.  In fact it was made in Colorado.  To me we had to get that mattress after seeing that tag.  We are now the proud owners of a mattress that was made in the USA, and is nice and large.
There are some drawbacks of the purchase.  We didn’t have the budget to get a natural or organic mattress.  But to be honest I don’t know when a $2,000 (or more) mattress would ever be in the budget.  Also, the place we chose was not a local store.  I think the mattress being made locally makes up for the business being a larger chain business.

Overall I am glad with our decision and hoping we sleep better with a firmer and larger bed.
