Mad Catz showed-off their latest gaming product, M.O.J.O. Android Micro Console (formerly known as Project Mojo) at E3, which is happening right now in San Diego. Since the initial announcement, Mad Catz has dropped the “Project” part from the name and it’s now known as just “M.O.J.O”.
As the CEO of Mad Catz, Darren Richardson explains, this console is “basically a supercharged smartphone” without a screen. You just have to jack it into a TV and play games on a bigger screen. M.O.J.O comes with stock Android 4.1. Which is not actually a bad thing because it allows you to download games directly from popular app stores like Google Play, Amazon and other retailers using your existing accounts and even play games that you already own. Mad Catz wanted to make this console “truly open platform” and let Android users play games, watch movies, and listen to music they already own “in the living room at no additional cost”, according to official Press Release.
M.O.J.O. will pack a NVIDIA Tegra 4 chip in the final launching console. But it’s not official, yet. You can check out Slash Gear‘s hands-on video to take a closer look at the new Ouya competition.
Pricing for this console hasn’t been announced yet. It is expected to ship with a Mad Catz C.T.R.L.R Wireless GamePad, which supports Smart (4.0) technology.
