Mac Users Are Now More Vulnerable to Malware Attacks

“With Snow Leopard’s retirement, 1 in 5 Macs are running an operating system that could be compromised because of unpatched vulnerabilities.”

Since September 2013, Apple hasn’t issued a single security update for Snow Leopard and now it has issued a statement claiming it will no longer support OS X 10.6. As Computer World points out, Apple is giving Snow Leopard the Windows XP treatment. This puts 1 in 5 Macs in great danger. It’s probably a good time for you to switch to Mountain Lion because Apple seems to be giving its’ new OS more spotlight than older versions.

While I encourage users to upgrade to newer operating systems, it’s actually disappointing to see Apple suddenly abandoning its’ users without even a warning. However, since Apple promises to roll out annual updates for OS X, Apple users will have to catch up quick to keep their devices safe.
