Friday night at Chicago’s Lincoln Hall was headlined by Baltimore’s Lower Dens, with local Chicago openers Melkbelly. Melkbelly’s set was loud, fast and accompanied by super moody lighting, all elements that were fitting for the noise rockers James Wetzel, Miranda Winters, Bart Winters, and Liam Winters. Lower Dens began their show with only 3 of 5 members, but frontwoman Jana Hunter was, of course, still on lead vocals. After treating fans to their sharp, powerful stage presence, the crowd was surprised at the end of the night when Jana left with a solo acapella song.
