The Pittsburgh Penguins traded defenseman Ben Lovejoy to the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday in exchange for their fifth-round choice in the 2014 NHL Draft.
Lovejoy, 28, is scoreless in three games with the Penguins this season. He hasn't dressed since Jan. 29, when he was driven into the end boards by Colin McDonald of the New York Islanders, who was suspended two games for the hit.
Lovejoy had one goal and five points in 34 games for Pittsburgh last season. In 98 NHL games with the Penguins during parts of five seasons, he has four goals, 25 points and 63 penalty minutes along with a plus-20 rating. He has two assists and four penalty minutes in nine career Stanley Cup Playoff games.
The Penguins signed Lovejoy as a free agent in July 2008 after he completed his college career at Dartmouth.
