Long Posts V’s Short Posts

Is long copy better than short copy, just what is the answer? Should you be writing a detailed step by step account in all you write, or just provide the interesting points?

I am a busy mom to 6, I have many questions I need answers too, I don’t have time to read many articles on the same topic and want to find the answers I am searching to appear before my eyes. With this thought in mind it brings me to writing blog posts, should they be long articles or short yet to the point?

Personally I prefer the short and to the point blog posts, I have visited blogs to only find I read the first and last paragraph and scan the in between parts, purely because I am looking for the interesting part, the start and the ending appear to be the most important.

While I do not consider myself a copywriter in any way, I do research and I read and write each day. The question of is writing long or short posts the best approach leaves me with doubt, some posts are more detailed therefore need more words, but the guru’s tell us to keep our blog posts to the point and short.

My problem I find when writing a long post is am I able to keep my reader interested long enough to finish it, will they, like me scan it or fully read each word? I presume that would depend if the post had captured their attention.

My blog is fast paced, at least 4 posts are added each day, I prefer to keep my posts as short and to the point as I can. This is a personal choice, I do not think of the length of the article as I write, but I do when I come to edit it. That is when I take out the parts where I have rambled on.
