Dug deep to find my only photo of an airworthy Lockheed L-1011, the third wide-body airliner to enter commercial service, after the Boeing 747 and the McDonnell Douglas DC-10. This Tristar entered service in 1984 with Alia Royal Jordanian Airlines and eventually ended up as VIP transport for the Saudi Arabian government for some time. In 2007 she was acquired by the Las Vegas Sands Corp to ferry wealthy gamblers to Las Vegas. Damaged by a 2013 flood in Bangkok, this aircraft was taken out of service. In 2018, the aircraft was disassembled and moved and can now be seen in Nong Khai, Thailand as an attraction for an outdoor market. First flown in 1970, only 250 of these airliners would be produced.
