Loch an Inbhir

scottish highlandsA mini break away is sometimes perfectly timed and needed to blow away those cobwebs which is exactly what happens when walking around the highlands in Scotland. Obviously when I say “walking” it’s not the kind which involves hiking up hilly paths using a map for guidance.  We left Edinburgh promptly at 6.30 am as it was quite a long drive up to Lochinver which unfortunately was mostly driven through dark clouds and heavy rain. Pretty atmospheric for us as passengers, not so much for the driver. However, when the heavens parted and greeted us with a pocket of blue sky through which the sun shone, it lit up the scenery around and was beautiful. Always camera ready. We stopped off by the side of the road to enjoy our flask of tea and cucumber sandwiches and to finally breathe in that wonderful, pure Scottish air. This was also our first encounter with that tireless wind which certainly breezes through you.
