Last week, the little sister of the well-known Burger & Lobster fine dining fast food opened in Mayfair, #Smack Deli. We weren’t planning on getting lunch at 4:00 PM but luckily stumbled upon the place while heading to Selfridges to start our Christmas shopping and couldn’t resist entering…
Unlike its big brother, B&L, you will only find out about what you will get to eat once you enter the restaurant. As the restaurant trend 2014 is to focus on one single item, they removed the burgers and put all their efforts in the lobster rolls, a.k.a my favourite lobster roll in town But this time, Smack Deli elaborated their recipe and offers four different types and well chosen sides:
We ordered a California roll (sounds like a Maki order ^^) and while waiting for it, we could witness the art of lobster rolling for ourselves thanks to the open-kitchen The place is huge, the prices are very fair and the roll… mmmhhh the roll…..
Inside this well polished and jewelry look alike box is hidden the one and only, buttery brioche filled with tender lobster…TADAHHHH
Of course we couldn’t help ourselves comparing it to the B&L classic lobster roll and found that the brioche was a bit thicker and the roll less filled, but oh well, it is more affordable and honestly tastes amazing
A lobster roll later and we were ready for the Christmas shopping orgie at Selfridges !If you have visited Smack Deli, let us know what you think about their rolls in the comment section ! Any restaurant advices in the area are welcome too
