In an increasingly-complex world, it’s becoming harder and harder to experience the simplicity of ages past. Thanks to the discover of electricity we have become both liberated and enslaved by our technological prowess. Thanks to virtually everyone being able to find out anything about everything via tools such as the internet, truth is drowning in a sea of irrelevance. Our greatest accomplishments as a collective can become our greatest downfalls. Are we willingly giving up our ability to think for ourselves and have a liberated mind? Are we using technology or is technology using us? These are questions we have to ask ourselves as the post-modern transhumanist world is unveiling itself right before our eyes.
We can still live free while living in this high-tech society of ours by simplifying our lives. By both physical and mental decluttering, we can enjoy a liberated life where there are little worries and concerns. After having the realization that material possessions do not bring us the happiness that immaterial experiences do, we can feel more comfortable with the thought of getting rid of those things that we rationalize as coming in handy as some point in the future that in reality will lay around and collect dust forevermore. By getting rid of these unnecessary things, we allow room for new things to come into our lives. Taking part in regular “spring cleaning” can help us in living every day as if it was a fresh start. Once it becomes a part of our habitual processes, it will begin feeling natural to get rid of the old energies and usher in the new. No longer will you be held back by your past.
As part of your mental decluttering process, learn to let go of relationships that have served their purpose in your life. Admittedly, this is not an easy thing to do sometimes, yet you will ask yourself why you didn’t do it sooner once you see the positive benefits resulting from that action. Declutter your life from negative people, dishonest people, people who don’t respect you, people are overly critical and who prevent you from becoming a liberated self-realized human being. Don’t let the life vampires drain you from all your hopes and dreams.
Learn to live in the moment…life doesn’t get any more simple than that. Nevermind the past, since it no longer exists. Don’t spend all your time in the future either, as it does not yet exist. Focus on the perpetually present moment as the only moment that will ever exist and live as a human be-ing. If your mind is too preoccupied with things that have happened or things that have not yet happened, calm your mind down. Be present, presently. Embrace meditation as a way to remove all that mental clutter and help realign you with the one moment that will ever be in existence…this one.
Life is precious, life is short. Don’t do things simply for the sake of doing them. Take a look at what you’re doing and only do it if you feel there is something meaningful to it for you specifically. If you can’t find any usefulness in it, drop it and move onto the next thing. If you do so early enough, you have the potential to avoid an enormous amount of pain and suffering. Dwell in positivity by doing the things you love since life is too short to spend it doing anything else. If you don’t enjoy something, then don’t do it…it’s as simple as the will to stop. Spend your time and energy on things that bring fulfillment and happiness into your life.
Yes, the world is becoming increasingly complex. Yes, technology seems to be taking hold in every facet of life. However, we are still the key-holders to our life’s destiny and our free will allows us to make the choice to either be enslaved by these novelties of life and existence or be liberated by them. We can live free through simplicity while still utilizing the latest advances in human invention and discovery to create a healthy and balanced lifestyle that will lead us to the splendor of self-actualized joy. You are alive right now, this you know for sure, so why not become liberated from complexity? The power is within you, use it to create your most desirable reality.
