Live Connected caught everyone by surprise with the launch of a whole new set of mobile plans this week. They had withdrawn their $8/mth Lite.r plan about a week ago but hadn’t really mentioned anything about replacing all plans.
Whilst on most occasions the plan changes in the past have resulted in more value, this time round the call value has stayed relatively stable. Call to other Live Connected members has fallen for some plans but we have seen the introduction of unlimited SMS/MMS to both local and international mobiles.
Base level we have BYO S ($8/mth) which offers $145 in calls to anyone locally, $135 to Live members and 200MB of data. Up a level and you get BYO M, which at $12/month gives you $500 in calls to anyone and $500 in calls to Live Connected plus 1.5GB of data. The next plan is BYO L, which offers $700 in calls, $900 to Live members (this plan has dropped value to other Live Connected members), unlimited Txt and 2GB of data at just $18 per month. Compare this to most $30 prepaid caps and you will surprised how much extra value you get.
The same comparison exists for the BYO XL plan at $30/mth. This plan gives you $800 in calls, $900 to Live members, and 2GB of data. The big value plan offered by Live Connected was the Zen series. It has now been replaced by the BYO XXL. The price for Zen was $40, this new plan is $35/mth and for this you receive $3000 in calls, unlimited Txt plus 4GB (was 5GB) of data. All Live Connected BYO plans come with unlimited social media access. Call rates are 90c/min, with a 35c flagfall. Txt are 25c (most plans comes with unlimited Txt and MMS made to both local and international mobiles). All data is charged per KB, so you know you are getting full value for your data allowance. Wifi tethering is available for all plans except the BYO S.
Live Connected use the Optus network.
