LA trio, Run Things, are a band who know who they are and play like they mean it. In a city and neighborhood (Echo Park) so overrun with artists, Run Things find inspiration in British rock, like Echo & the Bunnymen, New Order and Dire Straits. Instead of just naming them as influences, Run Things aspires to form the next link on the genre’s chain by spinning it with an LA twist. Adding heavy pop tones to the straightforward yet sweet style of rock, it sounds like they’re likely to achieve that next rung. Their first single, “Dumb in the Sun”, captures the LA lifestyle with urban beach vibes and is also showcased in the track’s video which features a beautiful girl in a beautiful car set to various, yep, beautiful backdrops. Though they only have a few tracks online, it’s clear that Run Things have a sound that leaves listeners starry-eyed enough to beg for more. Til then, listen to Run Things’ “Dumb in the Sun” above.
