Courtney Barnett’s The Double EP: A Sea of Split Peas was a definite highlight of 2013, and we’ve been clamoring to hear more ever since, which is why we’re excited about the new Milk! Records compilation being released this month featuring a host of awesome Melbourne-based indie bands. The record features a ripping new track from Courtney Barnett called “Pickles From The Jar”. Sounding like the slacker rock love child of Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash, she sings about differences between herself and a significant other, citing things like age, location, and pronunciation, though they both apparently share a love for Christopher Walken.

Her easy-going sound melds perfectly with summer, so it’s recommended that you listen to Courtney Barnett’s new one now, but also be sure to order that Milk! Records compilation to be released at the end of the month. Also, Barnett and band have been living the tour life for months now, and their sound really scalds.
