 LISTEN CAREFULLY [STREAM]

Eric Lindley is the musical genius behind Careful (@CarefulMusician), and when he’s not busy editing the literary and arts magazine Out Of Nothing or building robots, he’s producing lo-fi electro/glitch folk. While electronic music and folk music might be considered polar opposites, both genres are carefully (pun intended) combined, resulting in the relatively new genre of “folktronica”. Careful’s hushed, melancholy folk music can escalate into electric chaos, as emotional, wrenching lyrics and quivering, whispery falsettos are artfully blended together, while acoustic guitars and handclaps are juxtaposed with electronic drums, synths, and auto-tune. Wait, auto-tune? Yes, but think more Bon Iver than T-Pain.

His new album, Because I Am Always Talking, will be out August 21st; until then, two tracks from the forthcoming album are available on Careful’s BandCamp. Along with the album release, Careful will be playing shows around NYC, so make sure to follow his Twitter to stay up to date!
