A lioness in Kenya somehow found herself alone, separated or banished from her pride or family group — a highly vulnerable position.
So the lioness, a carnivorous predator, adopted a baby oryx or antelope, which under normal circumstances would be her prey.
The two were inseparable for weeks.
Sadly, this story did not have a happy ending.
One day, on the banks of a river, the lioness made the mistake of letting the oryx out of her sight for a few seconds. A male lion pounced on the oryx . . . .
But this story is still a remarkable glimpse of the biblical prophesy in Isaiah 11:6:
“The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them.”
