When I first started The Bostonista back in 2008 (wow has it really been 5 years?!) I did a monthly feature on a specific celebrity/model/etc called Style Star. If I still did the series, this month it would feature Lily Collins' style!
I'm not entirely sure why I stopped except that I think after a year or so I was starting to feel like I was repeating people. Lauren Santo Domingo, Nicole Richie, Diane Kruger...I'm still obsessed with these women and their undeniable fashion sense but how many times could I gush over them without it being completely boring?
Okay, I still do that a lot, but at least it's not on a regular basis!
Anyway, my point is, while there have been amazing additions to the It Girl community in the past few years, few styles have captivated my attention the way that those girls continue to until this summer when actress Lily Collins started promoting the latest addition to the YA-Turned-Movie cannon, The Mortal Instruments.
I first became aware of Lily when she won her first big role as Snow White opposite Julia Roberts in Mirror Mirror. Based on her looks alone, Lily was quite obviously born to play Snow! (Side note: If you haven't seen Mirror, Mirror I have to recommend it. It's cute, fun, and a billion times more entertaining than that Kristen Stewart mess.) But other than I hadn't given Phil Collins' daughter much thought. So I was surprised when a paparazzi shot I happened to scroll by stopped me in my tracks. "I have to re-create this style immediately! Who is that anyway?"

There wasn't anything obviously special about her skinny jeans and rockabilly scarf and yet... "It must be a fluke," I thought but as pictures of her MI media tour started rolling in, along with endless paparazzi snaps, it became clear: This is girl is about to become a fashion "It Girl".

She's been rocking leather, crop tops and cutouts like some kind of classy Miley Cyrus and while I'm a new fan of her street style, Lily's really making her mark on the red carpet and promo tour for The Mortal Instruments.
