Sometimes I put a little stop to all this beauty and lifestyle loving chit-chat to have a conversation about what is going on in my life, and this one is quite big…I GOT ENGAGED! But first off, hello, hi, how are you? Bali was amazing (more on that to come) and thanks for keeping this blog ticking over whilst I have been away. But, yes, he went and put a ring on it! I don’t really know how to write this post as it all seems still so very surreal and that I feel like I am still waiting for my alarm clock to wake me up…
When I was in secondary school I remember spying this mega tall guy in the corridors and I thought to myself, ‘eee, he’s a bit of alright him like’. A few of our friends did their thing and the next minute we were MSN’ing our lives away until the early hours of the morning. Forget Tinder, that’s how you did it back then! Fast-forward to a few weeks later and we were holding hands at break time, the most mismatch couple you’d ever seen; A chain-wearing 6 foot something lad and a little 4 foot something indie lass.
Seven and a half years later, here we are. Not saying that everything has been picture perfect, because every relationship has its rocky bumps but we are the most comfortable around each other we ever have been, farts and everything.
A few nights into our amazing holiday traveling around Bali, we found ourselves on a little island, Nusa Lembongan. The most idealistic-paradise-heavenly place with its white sands and crystal clear blue sea – we fell in love with it the moment we stepped off the boat. Jaws dropped and cameras were snapping away. It was beautiful. That night, on the beach as the sun was setting, that ol’ getting down on one knee situation happened and the rest, as they say, is history – I’m going to be a bloody Mrs!
Now that we are back from Bali, the reality is starting to hit. We are now going to start looking for a place to live together and take another huge step in our relationship. The engagement is going to be a long one, granted that, which I am totally okay with, I don’t care when/how/where I get married, all I care about is spending the rest of my life with my best friend.
Thank you for all your lovely words on social media, they have absolutely overwhelmed me. Oh, and my ring really is INSANE.
