Hello friends,
Early January I declared 2014 a year to nest. Decorating, crafts, simply enjoying our home. Learning to read knitting patterns has been amazing, expanding my choices from scarves to anything and everything. I made a hat last week and am now learning how to knit a sweater!
After watching several you-tube videos and reading decorating blogs, we finished a decorating project this weekend, up-cycling our kitchen chairs.
This photo (from pinterest) is my inspiration photo for my next project, it's time to start prepping the porch which will open in about a month's time. Not heated, we can't enjoy this space during winter... one of my favorite places in our home.
Photo envy: I daydream of owning a farm to table concept and would love to have chickens but... I don't eat eggs, or chicken. I also don't have the focus to tend to all aspects of a farm, without help.
So... my family need not be worried that I will ask for this chicken coop (spotted on Ashley English's instagram feed today).
Maybe it reminds me of spring?!
Reading: Last week I read Glitter and Glue and My Paris Kitchen. I didn't love either but enjoyed the cookbook which is filled with stories and tips.
I'm on chapter two of The Here and Now.
Synopsis: Follow the rules. Remember what happened. Never fall in love.
Meet seventeen-year-old Prenna James, who immigrated to New York when she was twelve. Except Prenna didn’t come from a different country. She came from a different time—a future where a mosquito-borne illness has mutated into a pandemic, killing millions and leaving the world in ruins.
Prenna and the others who escaped to the present day must follow a strict set of rules: never reveal where they’re from, never interfere with history, and never, ever be intimate with anyone outside their community. Prenna does as she’s told, believing she can help prevent the plague that will one day ravage the earth. But everything changes when she falls for Ethan Jarves.
What are you reading this week?
