It looks like bendable smartphones will be the new thing next year as both Samsung and LG has plans to introduce new smartphones with flexible displays. Although, LG was the first to announce its’ plans. South Koran company has officially announced that they plans to start mass producing flexible displays to introduce a bendable smartphone in 2014.

“LG Display’s flexible OLED panel is built on plastic substrates instead of glass,” according to LG. ”The new display is vertically concave from top to bottom with a radius of 700mm, opening up a world of design innovations in the smartphone market. And only 0.44mm thin, LG Display’s flexible OLED panel is the world’s slimmest among existing mobile device panels.”

LG hopes that “the global flexible display industry will see dramatic growth and become a USD 1.5 billion market by 2016.” Well, I wouldn’t mind carrying a smartphone or a computer rolled up on my back pocket. Although, it won’t be easy to type and do work on a device that bends like paper.
