Let’s Write Some Love Letters.

By Agadd @ashleegadd

deckthehalls_coverphotoMy dear, dear readers….

I need your help.

I don’t ask for a lot around here, but today is a day for asking because this is a participation project. I am back at it with the 12 Days of Love Letter Writing this year and I can’t do it without you. You are the key ingredient. Like butter. Or sugar. You are essential.

Every year More Love Letters devotes 12 whole days to a campaign packed with nonstop love letter writing for a handful of deserving people around the globe. Basically, you and I get to pour a whole lot of love on someone today, and all you need is a card and a stamp to participate.

Ready?

Our recipient: Ashley

Ashley’s story, as told by her friend Andrea: “One of my best friends is moving away in April because her future husband is in the military and he is getting stationed somewhere far away from home. So, for Christmas I have decided to put a letter box together for when she leaves and for the special days leading to the big move. I want her to have letters to open on bad days, good days, when she’s missing home and any other day in between. I would love for her to have some letters to open up that would make her smile and make her a little less homesick. She has never moved away from her friends and family and I know it’ll be tough.”

Will you join me in writing a love letter to Ashley?

here’s mine….

Dear Ashley,

We don’t know each other, but today I come to you with a small offering of encouragement. I know that your world has been turned upside down and I can’t even imagine how isolating that must feel. I think you are incredibly brave. I’m sure people use that word to describe your fiancé all the time, but I want you to know that I think you are just as brave as he is.

As you settle into the rhythm of a new life in a new city, away from your friends and family, I hope you can take that braveness and run with it. I hope you find friends in unexpected places and I hope you are pleasantly surprised by the kindness of strangers. I hope that every single time you feel alone, someone shows up for you. I hope your mind and heart can remain open to new experiences, new things, and most importantly—new people.

I pray that this season is just as wonderful as it is challenging, and that it grows you, and that it shapes you into the best version of yourself. I hope you discover new things about yourself and uncover strengths you never even knew you possessed. I hope that one day, some day, you are able to use your story to encourage another young military wife in your shoes.

You are beautiful. You are strong. You are brave. And you can do this.

You. Can. Do. This.

All my love,
Ashlee
