Below are a few of many lessons my beautiful Christian single mother taught me down through the years. No matter how old I get or how much knowledge I gain, these lessons strengthen me day after day.

- Being single isn’t a tragedy.
- Don’t let anyone control your happiness.
- Instead of feeling sorry for yourself, find a way to help others.
- Stop being cheap Candra. It’s okay to splurge when you can. You’re worth it.
- If you don’t know the answer, stop worrying and ask God.
- Don’t let anyone walk over you, use you, or abuse you.
- Never boast in yourself. If you can do anything, it is because of God.
- Take responsibility for your actions.
- When you have to stand on your own, do it and be strong. God will help you.
- Take a road you’ve never been on before… just to see where it goes.
- Have the courage to stand for what you know is right.
- Don’t cry over that boy who left you. He’ll come back. And when he does, you will have moved on.
- Stand up straight.
- When I have done wrong, she never stopped loving me.
- At all times…obey your mother. (Smile)
