There have been so many changes in my life and personality in the past eight years (of married life). Some I attribute to growing up, some to circumstances ... and some to my dear husband. Again, I might not admit it to him (or else I will never stop hearing about it), but he is responsible for a lot of positive and path breaking changes in me. Now of course, I could make this post about me, but I am going to try and keep it about him. What I admire in him, also inspires me, to change myself.
- He is an eternally happy person. In all these years of living with him, I am never seen him worried or upset over life. He takes it all in his stride with a smile (and a dash of humor). He is never dissatisfied with his today. Doesn't matter what is happening in his (or our) life, happiness and contentment is constant.
- He doesn't sweat over any thing, materialistic or not!
Me: There is no food at home and I had no time to cook.
Me: We went over our shopping budget this month.
He: That's what money is for.
Me: I stained our white couch.
He: We'll buy a new one.
- He truly lives in the moment. I was someone who would buy something new and save it for a special occasion. He is someone who would wear/use it right away. He would suggest, in the middle of a week, we go for a date night. Just 'coz! If you are thinking, "Why?" then let me tell you his answer, "Well, because why the hell not?!"
So living with him, I too have started staying happier (for longer periods of time). Also, 'coz I am competitive. If he can be happy all the time, so can I! :) Jokes apart, his joie-de-vivre is contagious. I too, try and not sweat about the small stuff. I have started, wearing my new clothes for no special reason at all, use the new china for a mundane weekday dinner, and adapt to change-in-plans with more enthusiasm. Life is short and there is no point getting mad about random things - I have to admit, life is better 'his way'!
A special thanks to Jen for taking these amazing shots. If you live in the DMV area do check out her portfolio here. She was extremely kind and friendly. She put us at ease in no time. She let us do our thing, and we didn't even realize when she caught these moments. I believe she captured our essence to the 'T'. I will be from sharing more from this shoot with Jen soon. Stay tuned!
