Leotards for All! (Girl Talk Warning) ;)

By Ballerinablogger
Ballet dancers wear a very minimal amount of clothing. I mean... We have to! In order to move our bodies we can't have a pair of jeans restricting our movement. So wearing just a leotard and a pair of tights leaves our bodies exposed for all to see basically every curve in our figure. We'll want to feel confident with what we wear or our self esteem can take a drastic plunge. I myself am particularly curvy. I have wide set hips, a small waist and 30 D as a bra size. (And by the way, do you have any idea how difficult it is to shop for a 30 D bra???!?!?!) It's very difficult for me to find leotards that look good. If the leotard isn't snug to my body then it can make me look very wide and if it's too tight then it makes my chest look huge. There has to be some kind of balance in the middle that makes my waist look as small as it is but also keeps my chest under control. So far I've only found about two or three really great ones. (You'd think I would've found more by now, huh!) So yes, finding leotards that look good is a very trying task. Here are some of the leotards that I like:

Halters are good for a more curvaceous shape. The leotard above fit me so well I ended up buying it in three different colors!

Misty Copeland is the woman modelling in both of these photos. She is a soloist with the American Ballet Theatre and a rather curvaceous woman herself. Anything she models on Discount Dance Supply is sure to fit a more curvaceous body. She is a huge inspiration to me, proving that girls with a chest can make it in the ballet world.
Many of the leotards that I have aren't even sold at Discount Dance Supply anymore so judging from personal experience I don't have much else to show you. :(
However, look for Misty Copeland as the model and I would definitely suggest trying those leotards. I also find it good to go to your local dance store and actually try things on. I like to see how they fit before buying anything.
Thanks for reading, everyone!
It's Memorial Day weekend here in the U.S. and I hope everyone enjoys it! :)
