You can measure the strength of a pop song by how quickly it gets stuck in your head after only one listen. I haven’t been able to rid my brain of Leo Leoson’s “Contemporary Dancer” for over a week now, and I don’t want to. The entire song is one long, luscious strand of hooks. Leoson makes crisp, clean folk pop backed by electronic beats and accents. He differs from his Swedish label mates (i.e. Icona Pop, Niki & the Dove, etc…) in that his songs lean more towards the folk side of the pop spectrum and could easily be performed acoustically while retaining their wow factor. Leoson currently has five songs on Soundcloud and is releasing an official EP soon. All five songs are solid, but “Contemporary Dancer” is what keeps me coming back. I promise you — the song is cocaine-laced. Listen to “Contemporary Dancer” and roll out the sleeper sofa because it’s going to be staying over indefinitely.
