"Reconquer our liberties! Vote royalist!"
Walking around my neighborhood today, I spotted this royalist poster on one of the official campaign boards. Curious, I looked up the Alliance Royale when I got home. It's a fairly new party, founded in 2001, dedicated to bringing about a constitutional monarchy, like Britain's. They even have a candidate for king of France, a handsome young man who would be "Louis XX." Never mind that behind the scenes there have been ferocious back-stabbing combats between Orléanistes and légitimistes for this so far imaginary title.
I bet they loved the Diamond Jubilee!
