Le Peep Gooey Buns

Le Peep Gooey Buns are a favorite treat when we venture out for breakfast. So easy to make too; bet you'll love them as much as we do!

Le Peep Gooey Buns

I've never been one to eat out often; I guess I love to cook and feed my family and friends too much. Well, except breakfast...my kids loved to go out and quite often Le Peep was our breakfast destination and Gooey Buns were a favorite choice.

Am I the only mom who wants just one more day with their darling little children? Not everyday but just ONE! 🙂

As I segued into food blogging full-time it did bring a lot of opportunities; restaurants always wanted a food blogger group I started to come try out their best dishes (and hoping we would compliment them on social media!).

Covid sure put the kibosh to those activities but truth be told I got a LOT done in my home; decorating, landscaping, and building a deck. Yes hard labor helped me survive that time and make lemonade from a LOT of lemons!

Now that things have opened up again, one fun outing happened recently when I met a group of friends and we sought out a Le Peep Restaurant near us. Everyone had good memories and something they had to have again. No one had invited us to the establishment so I can brag because I love the place!

You can guess one of my favorites, right? Of course it was these Gooey Buns.

When eating at the restaurant I usually ordered a side of their Sassy Apples too. If you find that appealing, I've put the ingredients into a Note after the recipes; the ingredients are listed and you simply combine and sauté for 15 minutes to soften and they are served on the side.

I thought Le Peep was a nationwide chain but only recently discovered that it's only found in scattered states. Now that we've been re-introduced, it's back to being a favorite place to meet friends for a morning rendezvous and I simply love the breakfast offerings. Eggs Benedict or a Huevos Rancheros or at least these Gooey Buns!

Know that while they might call them Gooey Buns they're really Gooey Muffins. These are easier to make than Eggs Benedict though; all you need are a couple of ingredients you probably already have in your pantry:

The English muffins are topped with a cinnamon, sugar, and butter mixture that is broiled and then topped with slivered almonds for the last couple of minutes under the broiler. Simple right? And simply divine.

Served with cream cheese and the Sassy Apples on the side, I think they're the perfect breakfast treat with a nice mixture of both sweet, spicy cinnamon, and a bit of tang from the cream cheese.

I didn't make the apples when I made these buns; I had some great Honey Crisp apples and slices of those were perfect too if you want even easier.

I actually planned a post about these favorite muffins before I moved here a decade ago. I made them, I photographed them...and that was the end of it. I was sort of at my wits end living in someone else's home while waiting for this one to be completed and it showed.

I'm glad I was reminded of them through a new adventure and even happier to make them at home again. They are still the easiest, best warm treat for a quick but delicious breakfast.

Best of all though is they are one more reason for me to stay home and make something in my own kitchen and invite the neighbors over! I know you'll love them too!
