Lantz House Inn: A Bed and Breakfast in Centerville, Indiana
Lantz House Inn located in Centerville, Indiana is a comfortable and cozy historic bed and breakfast.
Constructed in 1823, it possesses one of only five remaining archways–definitely an unusual feature here in Indiana!
Lantz House Inn: A Centerville, Indiana Bed and Breakfast
From the outside, you know you are in for something remarkable. Lantz House Inn was once the home and shop location of a wagonmaker, Daniel Lantz. Until he decided to head to California during the gold rush, that is! His dreams of striking it rich didn’t pan out–he didn’t survive the journey.
What a home he left! We were ushered in and shown to our rooms, the Hamilton and the Melissa (for our boys). The rooms are well cared for and inviting. There’s hallways and sitting areas that flow into one another, high airy ceilings, and books everywhere!
But this wouldn’t be an Indiana bed and breakfast, or little Indiana, if I didn’t talk about the food!

Lantz House Inn Bed and Breakfast in Centerville, Indiana: Lemon Ricotta Pancakes
Breakfast at this Wayne County home was delicious. Beginning with a nice course of fresh fruit containing watermelon, cantaloupe, and apples. It was a nice start to our day.
But things only improved when Marcia set down the main course. Our favorite had to be what Marcia rightly considers her specialty–Lemon Ricotta Pancakes! Although, really, her french toast was also superb. As great as breakfast was, our favorite element of Lantz House Inn had to be the garden.
This large backyard was beautifully landscaped. I felt like I had stepped into a scene from “The Secret Garden.” With paths and separate sitting areas, it was both unexpected and a welcome diversion during our downtime.
After a long day of traveling, our boys were thrilled to have a chance to run around. It provided a nice ending to our day–the feline friends hanging around didn’t hurt either!

Please tell Goldfinger that little Indiana said “hey.” I’ve got a thing for orange tabby cats. While he will never make an appearance in your room, you are likely to find him lounging in the garden–isn’t it nice to have company?
