With a sound as lighthearted as the name, Ladada is a summery, retro new musical output from seasoned Virginia Beach musician Josiah Schlater. Having recorded and toured with a number of bands over the years (MAE, We Are Trees, Jake Clemons), Schlater has really sunk into his own jangly sound as Ladada. “Comets”, the first single from his debut album, pulls elements from Motown and 60’s garage rock to create a poppy sound swimming in sunshine. From the initial woody guitar riff to the sweetly delivered bridge that echoes vocals from The Beach Boys, the song is all kinds of nostalgic fun that makes you want to ‘oo’ and ‘ah’ along. Ladada’s self-titled debut record is out now on Gold Robot Records.
