Klairs Mochi BB Cream Review: It is Cute, But is It Effective?

By Alyssa Martinez @ItsMariaAlyssa

If a mochi and a BB cream had a coitus, this will be the result. And it's not weird unlike that one genetics episode of the animated series called South Park. In fact, it is really cute and quite useful. But is it an effective BB cream? Remember I had mixed feelings with the Klairs Illumination Supple Blemish Cream back in 2016. It gave me a really beautiful smooth and dewy finish but it broke me out, worst than any products I used. But I'm a person who doesn't hold a grudge, for a long time. So for the second time around, did it live up to my expectation or at least did not broke me out? Scroll down to read my Klairs Mochi BB Cream review to know more.

WHAT IS IT?

Klairs Mochi BB Cream is one-touch base makeup with a long-lasting formula that claims to be resistant to sweat and dirt. This is the new and improved version of Dear Klairs' best-selling Mochi BB satin-finish cushion. It claims to provide natural skin-perfecting coverage, help blurs the look of pores as it banishes redness, lasts longer while still staying lightweight even under humid conditions and protects from harmful UV rays with SPF 40.

INGREDIENTS

It contains Niacinamide which has a brightening and anti-acne benefits. Centella Asiatica Extract which promotes wound healing. And Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, which has acne-fighting benefit. But it also contains Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate which is one of the many ingredients in this product that provides UV protection like Zinc Oxide, but it is potentially a skin irritant for those with sensitive skin. You can read more about its ingredient analysis in CosDNA Analysis.

PERFORMANCE

APPLICATION: Use the included puff and gently pat onto the face, starting from the center and moving towards the outer corners of the face.

SCENT: It has a mild powdery scent.

PACKAGING: As you could see, the Klairs Mochi BB Cream's packaging is really cute like you could eat and bite it. But I suggest you won't. And it also comes with a really cute box. But unlike the A'Pieu Air Fit Cushion, the refill is optional, you have to pay extra. Besides that, I do like the cushion cover which you will twist instead of pulling out so kids who may accidentally open this will not able to reach the actual product. Plus, the puff is really cute too like a smooshed mochi.

FORMULA: I thought this will be really dewy like most cushion compacts I used, but it wasn't! Yes, it is dewy but it is comfortable enough for those with oily skin. It does not look shiny, feels greasy, nor melts easily off the face. It looks really natural, and lightweight too.

RESULT: The Klairs Mochi BB Cream comes with only one shade like the Illumination Supple Blemish Cream. And they claim that one shade will naturally complement both cool and warm undertones. Well, I can't speak for all skin shades but for someone who has light brown skin, it actually surprisingly look good but still look one shade lighter but still looks natural for some reason. And my mom, who has paler/whiter skin than mine, it suits her skin much better. However, it does not really have a full coverage, instead, it's a buildable light to medium coverage. I have acne-prone skin so I have a bunch of dark spots left by pimples that dried out. It did not cover that well. But it is effective in making my skin look smoother, a little poreless, and reduced the redness.

Honestly, I still have mixed feelings about this product after using it for the whole weekend. I didn't love it but didn't hate it either. And my concern that it may break me out just like the other Klairs BB cream, well so far, my skin is not breaking out. So I guess, this will be a good BB cream when I'm in a hurry and want a minimalist routine.

VERDICT

PROS: Have a dewy finish that suits even those with oily skin. Comes with SPF40. It looks somewhat natural and feels lightweight. Makes the skin look smoother, a little poreless, and brighter. Long-lasting and color correcting, sure.

CONS: Comes with only one shade. Refill is sold separately.
