Kindness absolutely does count! That's exactly why I am thrilled to tell you about a brand new initiative from the fabulous folks at Sprout: "Kindness Counts! is a prosocial initiative supporting the development of empathy in preschoolers by promoting small acts of kindness that matter big."
Wow! What an important message! I'm beginning this with my own children right away! Every time one of them engages in a random act of kindness, we will document it. Sprout's goal is to reach 1 million acts of kindness logged onto their site. I absolutely want my children to be a part of reaching that goal! Don't you want the same for your children? I think we all do.
In fact, our family already has an act of kindness to contribute: Tonight I was vacuuming the living room. When I do this, I usually like to keep my youngest in his highchair so he doesn't play with the vacuum cord. Since he was in his highchair, his wonderful big sister decided to bring some toys to him! I thought it was so sweet and thoughtful! I made sure to let her know how proud I was!
The campaign begins this month on the Sprout network and there will be various public service announcements made that will give both parents and children some great ideas for kind acts to try. Something as simple and bringing a little brother some toys or sharing crayons can make a big difference. I really hope your family will become a part of this important campaign. Every smile matters and that's why Kindness Counts!
