Holograms were just a sci-fi fantasy when we first saw them in the movies, back in the 80s. But it became way cooler after the recent show when this technology gave life to the legendary Rap artist Tupac where it showed him perform live with another artist on stage. If you’ve thought that was awesome, wait till you get those life size holograms at your home. Yes, it could happen very soon as a company aims to bring human sized, floating holograms into your living room.
Provision Interactive Technologies has just launched this new Kickstarter to raise funds to develop a new technology that could make full-size holograms that are able to”touch and interact” and even combine the technology with cell phones, televisions, and even social networking. This sounds like a great breakthrough in technology but, as Gizmodo points out, these folks haven’t actually figured it out yet. And their $950,000 goal seems to be far beyond getting funded.
It would definitely be really cool if it gets real though. Imagine the possibilities this could bring to our future. We can maybe make a call with someone while looking at each other in 3D form, or send a message personally while appearing there. And you could also maybe have a holographic girlfriend like in the 6th Day movie as well. All of this could be real, sooner than we think.
