Here's a little more. Now I ask, why trade if he was getting released anyway? Now we eat the $3.4 mil cap hit?

The Steelers have traded for place kicker Josh Scobee, a 12-year veteran who previously played for the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to a report from 1010 XL in Jacksonville.
No details were available about what the Steelers dealt away to get Scobee, but the Steelers needed to add a place kicker after Garrett Hartley injured his hamstring in the preseason game at Buffalo on Saturday.
Scobee, a fifth-round draft choice of the Jaguars in 2004, had been their place kicker for the past 11 seasons, but rookie Jason Myers beat him out during the preseason.
Scobee has made 80.8 percent of his field goal attempts. He made only 76.9 percent of his kicks last season, but he was 17 for 20 from distances of 49 yards and shorter last season.
Scobee is the third place kicker for the Steelers during the preseason. Veteran Shaun Suisham was injured in the first preseason game against the Vikings. He is out for the year with a knee injury.
Scobee is in the final year of his contract with a cap hit of $3.4 million.
Wow! Scobee is a hero down here. He's the only offense the jags have had for the last 12 years.
I like this move for us, he is getting old, but that dude can kick it accurately for a country mile!
Hope he still has plenty of gas left in the tank. I think the Jag-offs got rid of him more for his salary and image (young, new, hungry team) than for performance reasons.
Another stupid move by the jags, that just shows why they are the jags.
