Seat Pleasant native and basketball star Kevin Durant gifts 3 PGCo organizations with a collective $150k
Mr. Durant, on a day like today, we really needed this kind of news. Man thanks. WUSA9 reported, “The Kevin Durant Charity Foundation says Kevin Durant will award $150,000 to three Prince George’s County organizations next month. The NBA star will give the Seat Pleasant Activity Center, the Maryland Jaguars Youth Organization and the Community Kinship Coalition Inc. on July 1 at the Seat Pleasant Activity Center. According to the foundation, these organizations were chosen because they were “pivotal in his life.” The donations will help enrich the lives of at-risk children ages 6 – 18 through educational, athletic and social program support, according to the foundation.
Kevin Durant also unveiled the KD VI basketball shoe at the Seat Pleasant event today. I’m not a fan of these over priced athletic shoes but I must shout him out because he’s paying homage to the Seat Pleasant recreation center where he honed his skills. From the official press release, “Durant was born and raised in Seat Pleasant, Md., just outside of Washington, D.C. He honed his game after spending countless hours at the Seat Pleasant Activity Center, his home away from home. The rec center’s trademark teal and yellow colors, spotted on the center’s doormat by Chang on his first trip to Seat Pleasant in 2008, inspired the lead KD VI colorway launching globally July 3.”
