Last week, I received the most lovely email from the team at Patrice Vinci Salon (91 Newbury St.) inviting me in to experience their award winning color services! How could I say no?
So, on Wednesday afternoon, I found myself in her sunny salon above Ralph Lauren on Newbury, being greeted by the friendliest staff imaginable. My hair was in dire need of some love but Patrice wasn't intimidated or overwhelmed by my lion's mane! She's worked with some major celebrities (like Ellen Pompeo and Kevin Bacon) but she's so warm and down to earth that you'd never know it. In fact, Patrice and her staff seem to treat every person who stops in as a VIP.
Blonde hair is an undertaking that requires a lot of waiting for the color to lift so I was able to watch a lot of clients on their way out. Consistently, every woman, no matter who their stylist was, seemed to glow. Sure, any talented stylist can make a woman look good but I think it's the positive vibes and warm atmosphere at Patrice Vinci that really makes a woman feel good too.
As soon as I sat down, Patrice and her assistants listened closely to what I wanted ("Kate Upton hair.") and took my hair's sordid past into account before making recommendations. First, Patrice used a single process to cover my roots and tone the gold out of my base color.
Forty-five minutes later it was time for a quick shampoo, followed by a lot of thoughtfully placed highlights!
It was, as you can probably tell, super relaxing for me. Then, of course, more time for tabloids while I waited for the highlights to get good and blonde! Then it was time for the third and final step of my color process: the purple rinse!
I've actually been using a purple shampoo and conditioner at home for a while now. I usually shampoo and rinse it out as normal but Patrice had a great tip: Let purple shampoo sit for five minutes in your hair for it to really take out any gold and brassy tones! So, seven minutes later, my color was finally done! Patrice finished up with a quick trim (I'm trying to grow out layers) and a not-so-quick blow out. I felt so gorgeous when she was finished!
I think that Patrice Vinci Salon is one of Boston's hidden gems! With nods from Elle and Allure, the staff is one of the most knowledgeable in the city and you can't beat the happy mood that radiates here. I was so relaxed, that I actually wanted to hang out all afternoon. How often does that happen? Never. I literally can't wait to go back.
Thank you so much to Patrice Vinci, Anson Adams and the entire Patrice Vinci Salon team for welcoming me and providing such an amazing experience!
