Jwalamukhi Temple

🔥 Why It’s Special
- The temple is one of the 51 revered Shakti Peethas in India — sacred places connected with the goddess Sati.
- What makes it unique is that there is no idol inside the sanctum. Devotees worship natural, eternal flames (jyoti) that emit from fissures in the rock, believed to represent the divine presence of the Goddess.
- These flames are considered miraculous, burning without fuel, oil, or wick.
🕉️ Mythological Significance
According to legend, the tongue (jivha) of Goddess Sati fell at this spot while Lord Shiva carried her body after her self-immolation. The flames are believed to symbolize her divine presence and eternal energy.

- The temple structure is built over the rock fissure that emits the flame and has a golden dome with silver doors; many parts were donated by historical rulers.
