Just Read It! Book Club Questions: Dualed by Elsie Chapman
It's time to answer those questions that we gave to you earlier in the month! If you've read Dualed with us this month, then we'd love if you could answer the following questions and link it up! If you haven't, and you would just like to write a review, that's great too!
1. Where do you think the title Dualed comes from?Well, I know that Dualed means having two parts, so it most likely comes from West and her Alt - they're both two different parts and very important to each other's success.
2. What did you think of the intense first chapter?Oh wow! It really drew me in, and I knew after reading it that the rest of the novel would be just as eventful and intense! It was one of the best openings I've read in a while!
3. What are your thoughts on the action scenes? They were pretty darn intense! I think that's just the word I'm going to use to describe this novel: intense. So when it came down to the action scenes, there wasn't a lot of actions. There was just a lot of inner dialog for West, and it made everything seem to kind of go in slow-motion. It was pretty cool, and I loved reading the action scenes!
4. What did you think of West's relationship with Chord?Well, it was interesting. It's one of those where she doesn't want to like him, but she can't help that she does. I like that she doesn't let him get in the way of succeeding at killing her Alt though. She doesn't go all soft and weak, which I appreciated.
5. If you could change one thing about West, what would it be?Hmmm. I'd have to say her decision to become a Striker. It just seemed out of the ballpark and not something that you would expect of her. It kind of felt like an unnecessary action on her part. Also, the fact that she keeps running from her Alt. She says she doesn't want help from Chord, but when she keeps running from her Alt, it seems like she's weak and that ultimately draws a guy like Chord to her, because he feels she needs help.
6. Did you ever wonder what was going through West's Alt's head?Of course! I like that we got a preview at her family and learned about her boyfriend. I'm kind of disappointed though, because so much could have been done with that. West could have felt sorry for her Alt at some point, or she could have actually talked to her. It would have been cool to see from her Alt's point of view too because, like I said in my review, it would bring out more emotions in readers.
7. What did you think of the last chapter and ending? Oh gosh, I loved it! I like how West faced her fears and let Chord into her life. She even made a friend out of Dess, a small boy she met during her journey. And the fact that she's now a teacher...? SO COOL. I'm just curious as to where this will lead for the sequel.
8. Is there a character you would have liked to see more of?First of all, Dess - the young boy she met. But I'm sure we will see more of him in the sequel. Then, Ehm. She was West's younger sister, and she was only featured in flashbacks. I feel like having her more in flashbacks would have brought more emotion to readers and we would like West more.
9. What was your favorite part of the novel? The ending. It was just so unexpected, but in a good way!
10. What was your least favorite part of the novel?Ummm, I'd say the parts when West was a Striker. I do not approve...
So now it's your turn! Link up your reviews and questions!
