Just a little FYI. Our Occupational Therapist says any exercise or activity that causing children (and adults) to use upper body strength is a anxiety reducer and and has a calming effect. Swimming is the absolute best for our anxious kiddos. (and Mommas) I think most of us have had access to a pool this Summer but what's a good alternative for Winter? She says the YMCA offers a huge membership discount for children who have a diagnoses. I think we will be checking this out because I have seen (Momma Jan, did I use that correctly?) first hand how calming swimming is for the boys.
