If there's one thing I'm super supportive of, that would be the creation of local brands. With Singapore being a melting pot of beauty and skincare choices, it makes especially heartening have one borne from our very own sunny shores. For this, I am pleased to discover JUS Skincare, a local under-the-radar skincare brand formulated to suit the needs of a busy modern woman; especially one living in our sweltering climate!
JUS Skincare hits the right notes with its less is more philosophy: its key regime uses only 3 products, namely the Moisturising Serum, Miracle Eye Cream and Ultimate Perfecting Cream for everyday beauty nourishment. Starting off on a freshly cleansed face, I begin with a single dispense of the JUS Moisturising Serum ($88). This 3-in-1 moisturising serum contains a powerful blend of active ingredients to boost the natural development of support proteins needed by skin in order to clarify, brighten and protect it from environmental aggressors. The serum has a translucent gelish slightly viscous texture that gets absorbed by the skin relatively fast. I like the fact that it does not leave a tacky afterfeel but a light layer of velvety hydration, with a hint of powdery scent.
A look at the ingredients list shows promising combinations: Ginseng Extract and Collagen which works together to restore skin elasticity, diminish wrinkles/fine lines appearances and minimizing enlarged pores. I personally found that redness around below my eye areas were noticeably lessened; I credit this to power of Yeast Extract that helps to stimulate collagen synthesis, while Glycoprotein to help promote skin renewal and repair.
During this time where I let the serum sit on my skin, I work on my eyes. The JUS Miracle Eye Cream ($98) looks set to live up to its name with a complex to firm, brighten and moisturize tired looking eyes. An interesting ingredient is Algae extract which is found to promote micro circulation and release of fatty acids and liquid around the eyes to alleviate common dark circle (blue circles) issues and decreasing melanin production (brown circles), fading existing pigmentation.
Like most of my reviews, I always look out for the hero product of the range and the Miracle Eye Cream is it. One element I liked is the curves in-built applicator which you can simply dispense the product and massage in (gentle circular motions) directly without using your fingers. My only issue that a single press dispenses more than needed for my undereye area so I tend to just spread the surplus from my eye corners outwards.
I experience a immediate warming sensation but faded relatively fast; and as it got absorbed, the skin felt hydrated and plumped up. The eye cream also contains Vitamin E to help brighten and tone skin and protect delicate eye area from any UV-induced damage. The eye cream also features a blend of Vitamin A, Natural Oils (Annuus Seed, Wild Soya Bean, European Olive, Grapevine), Shea Butter that helps nourish the skin, which enables quick healing of dry. helps to improve texture, firmness and smoothness of skin.
Now that the serum is done, I'm ready to layer on the moisturizer. The JUS Ultimate Perfecting Cream ($78) comes ergonomically packaged in a tube with dispenser head (which saves the trouble of gauging the amount), and I adore the refreshing scent of the light cream lotion. Like the serum, this anti-aging moisturiser also contains Yeast Extract and Glycoprotein that helps to stimulate collagen synthesis and booster skin renewal process to return firmness to wrinkled, dry and sagging skin.
All in all, I'm pretty impressed how an under-the-radar beauty brand, especially a local one has given my skin noticeable improvements within 2 weeks: my complexion less dull and more supple (evidenced with the comparison below), especially my eyebags which look significantly less puffy and dark... which saves me time on concealing it in the morning!
