Joseph’s “White Flag” is a mighty anthem backed by a stomping beat, a powerful message and a video to prove it. The visuals draw on the sisters’ roots (not to mention their beautiful home of the Pacific Northwest), but most importantly, underscore the unyielding resilience of women with a mission. The trio, composed of sisters Allison, Meegan, and Natalie, bring (almost) identical tonalities and pull their sweet, spellbinding harmonies to the surface. The lyrics, though, are straight to the point: “I could surrender/ but I’d just be pretending/ no I’d rather be dead than live a lie/ burn the white flag!” “White Flag” cuts out all the noise, leaving space for willpower, determination, and persistance to rise.
