Today marks the beginning of the Focus Features special initiative, “19 Days of Suffrage," to celebrate the powerful film Suffragette, as it releases in theaters nationwide through Thanksgiving. These 19 Days are in honor of the 19th Amendment, which granted women in the United States the right to vote in 1919.
Every Monday in November, we will be providing new clips from the film, interesting historical facts, and suggested topics to spark conversation about being a woman in the world today, the challenges we face, and the fights we've won. The following special video called #MyFirstTime features celebrities such as the Suffragette filmmakers and star Carey Mulligan, Kathy Baker (The Age Of Adaline, Edward Scissorhands), Trieste Kelly Dunn (“The Good Wife,” “Banshee”), Rosanna Scotto (WNYW Anchor), and more as they recall the first time they ever voted.
