Johnny Rockets

V irginia Mall in Whitefield is finally starting to emerge as a bright new hotspot for people from that side of the city. With its focus on family friendly activities, and food joints, it's the ultimate place to hang out in Whitefield.

Now, the latest addition to Virginia Mall is an outlet of Johnny Rockets - the 50s style diner chain serving up the most delicious Burgers, shakes, and fries.

Snubnose and I visited the mall last weekend for lunch followed by a game of bowling at the arcade.

When we walked into the restaurant, the Americana vibe was really strong with its chrome accents and relaxed seating. Snubnose and I seated ourselves by a window, and briskly gave our orders.

The food is typical American-style. The menu consists of burgers, milkshakes, fries, onion rings, and the like.

When I insta-storied pictures of us in the place, comments started to flow in saying that Johnny Rockets' milkshakes are to die for. So, we started our meal with the milkshakes.

Guys, you were right. The milkshakes are really incredible. Absolutely creamy and very flavorful, these are probably the best milkshakes I have tried - beating Keventer's and Corner House milkshakes hands down.

We ordered french fries and onion rings to eat along with our shakes.

The french fries were really well done. I also liked how they were served (with sea salt and black pepper mills). It gave an upscale touch to the fries (and to the overall tone of the place in general). And, I think nothing beats freshly ground salt and pepper on fries - so delicious.

The onion rings were served with a yummy mayo dip. And while I wasn't a fan of the onion rings (I like them thick and greasy), I really loved the dip it came with.

We followed that up with mini burgers. Snubnose chose the Rocket burger with chicken patty, and I chose the Original one with a veg patty.

I liked the veg burger I ordered, but judging from the eating sounds, I gather that Snubnose's Rocket chicken burger was out-of-the-world delicious.

Overall, their buns are whole wheat, the vegetables were crispy, and the patty was well-done. Win!

They have a wide choice of desserts.

We selected a chocolate tart and a mango mousse.

Both the desserts were good, but not memorable, but that is not expected in a diner-style restaurant anyway.

Overall, I would say our experience at this place was a solid positive. The menu is simple and straight-forward, and the execution was done really well. The prices are a tad higher compared to chains like Burger King, and McDonald's but the dining experience is infinitely better.
