John Frieda Beach Blonde Collection

By Hollysbeautybox @hollysbeautybox
Back in the day when I was at high school, I was a big fan of John Frieda. I was pretty poor and so at Christmas time when one of my friends bought me a John Frieda set I felt like someone had handed me a Chanel bag.

Nowadays though, being a beauty blogger means a bit of the magic around trying new products has definitely faded because I'm lucky enough to be able to do it so often, but my memories of using the brand are good and so I was intrigued to try it out when it landed on my desk, despite the fact that I am a brunette and this is a beach blonde collection... #fail
Normally if something doesn't really suit my hair color or skin tone, I give the item to a friend who it would suit and ask for their thoughts on it but on this occasion it smelled SO amazing that I just had to try it out for myself.
The products are all green, like mint green (think Essie mint candy apple mint) and so I figured they would all smell quite medicated but actually they smell quite minty and fresh which I love.
The first thing I used (obviously) was the Cool Dip Purifying Shampoo which had a jelly type consistency and worked into the hair really well. I smelled like a walking mint leaf which was amazing. Next up, I used the conditioner which had a cream like consistency and was also minty. I rinsed out the conditioner and blow dried my hair but noticed my hair didn't feel all that soft so the conditioner obviously isn't a deep conditioner.
In terms of shine, my hair felt strong and looked shiny for days! the shampoo had definitely cleansed my hair really well and I was impressed that I could still smell mint after it was dried.

I washed my hair again a few days later and used the same products. However, instead of blow drying my hair, I used the spray in salt spray. and blow dried after that. If I'm honest, I'm not all that impressed with the salt spray. In a lot of salt sprays and texturizers you tend to notice your hair gets dry and sort of whispy. I definitely felt this with this spray which was disappointing but I definitely will persevere with it and see if using it differently will help.
I would love to hear your thoughts on the John Frieda Beach Blonde Collection? which John Frieda products would you recommend?
