Longtime fans and YouTube deep divers already know that Jess Moskaluke has a love for Christmas songs. But now, with the release of A Small Town Christmas, everyone can get into the spirit with the three-time Canadian Country Music Association Female Artist of the Year.
The nine-song album includes past favourites from Moskaluke's library including Thank God For Christmas and O Holy Night (ft. The Lovelocks), as well as new collaborations with Paul Brandt, Hunter Brothers and Cassadee Pope. And from start to finish, the 31-minute collection of Christmas songs is a great fit for the festive season.
We first talked to Jess about the album in June at the Country Wild Festival. We didn't get into a lot of details then, but it was clear that she was excited about finishing the project and having it ready for her fans and Christmas lovers this year.
Last year we got a taste of Jess's love for Christmas when she brought together members of the MDM Recordings family for holiday special, live-streamed at the YouTube Space in Toronto, and featuring a performance of Grown Up Christmas List. She also shared some Christmas stories like her food-based traditions that include hashbrown casseroles, as well as perogies, and cabbage rolls (thanks to her Ukranian heritage).
Throughout A Small Town Christmas, Jess Moskaluke shows off not only her love of holiday music, but also her powerful voice, range, and ability to own a song. It's the same talent and star power that has made her a Platinum, CCMA and Juno award-winning, fan favourite, country artist since her breakout in 2014.
And by inviting friends like Cassadee Pope ( Santa Baby), Paul Brandt ( With Bells On), Hunter Brothers ( Mary Did You Know), and The Lovelocks ( O Holy Night) to sing with her on these songs, she's only added to the talent and special event quality of the album.
