If you look back at the history of Android mobile OS, you will find a lot of tasty names like Eclair, Gingerbread, Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean. But, you will be surprised to know one of them are much more popular than any other version of Android. And that is Android Gingerbread.
Android 4.2 Jelly Bean is the latest version of Android family. Although, Gingerbread has been dominating most of the Android devices from a long time. And, it is still on top. But, now Gingerbread sees a loss of 50% of it’s distribution. Which is not entirely bad as it also allows more space for newer versions like Jelly Bean and ICS.
Statistically speaking according to a latest research data, Gingerbread is running on 47.6% of Android devices, Ice Cream Sandwich on 29.1% and 10.2% for Jelly Bean. These reports comes from data collected over a two week period, ended today. Considering the new sales in this holiday season, this boost on Jelly Bean and ICS may change in few months.
