Moving ahead with my "non-resolution" resolution of reading more, I started with my second book of the year today (and finished it as well).
Sholay: The Making of a Classic by Anupama Chopra is about the quintessential Indian film. A film that most Indians have seen at some point in their lives. A film that ran for 5 years in a theater. An "Indian Western" that has every possible genre engraved in it.
Romance, Action, Tragedy, Adventure, Love, Hatred, Drama, Music, Dance, ... Everything you can imagine makes this the most important movie when it comes to Indian cinema, and reading about everything that went on behind the scenes was great insight into the art of filmmaking.
While the book is also highly recommended, I would urge each and every cinephile to watch the film as it truly is pure brilliance.
